Great food and service I've been eating at Cafe Italia since June of 1997 and my family has been in the Italian restaurant business in Canton, Ohio since 1949. I've never had a bad dinner or service in the 50+ times I've eaten there. When my folks come to visit, they demand to go to Cafe Italia. [06 May 2006 21:02:48]

Great restaurant in DC! I loved everything. The red checkered table cloths and the lit candles really set the scene. The food was way over expectations. I am an overnight Italian food fan. [18 Jun 2007 20:50:43]

Avoid at all costs Family owners or friends had to have written these previous reviews. We had a meal so terrible that it defies belief. The waiter had no interest in his work. Salads come with the entrees. Three of us asked for oil and vinegar and one for blue cheese. We got four lousy salads all with a really lousy, bottled Italian dressing. We ordered a small margherita pizza as an appetizer and asked that it be cooked with a crisp crust. It was anything but crisp, and totally flavorless. The bread was dreadful - no flavor, mushy white bread in the shape of Italian bread. Entrees were weird to terrible. My "Chicken Genova" was described as fettucine with chicken chunks and a "green basil sauce" as though we wouldn't recognize the word "pesto." The pasta was way overcooked, the chicken was gray and flavorless and disgusting - like cafeteria mystery meet. The pesto was sort of oily and thin. The waiter brought my friend chicken parmigiana instead of eggplant parmigiana and though there were only two other occupied tables, it took 20 minutes for him to get it replaced. There are dozens of restaurants within 3 blocks. Why eat at this lousy one? The owners should be ashamed of themselves and should close the place down if they can't or won't serve reasonably good food. [26 Nov 2007 14:34:46]

Amazing I was first skeptical to go eat there, but the food was amazing! I've been a couple more times and the serice is always the same; above average. All the chicken dishes definately outbeat other Italian restraunts. Their house salad is one of the best I have ever eaten. Although they have a small non-alcoholic selection to choose from, everything else was great. I go there close to every other weekend. [20 Jul 2008 17:06:01]
