great deal, great service
Il Radicchio has the largest Italian Menu and wine list in Northern Virginia. Wood Fired Oven, Spaghetti with 20 plus sauces, steaks, fish specials, ravioli is perfect and very fresh.    [13 Jan 2004 20:00:52]

With a homey neighborhood joint ambiance, Il Radicchio's star is it's Bottomless Pasta Bowl with somewhere between 30-40 sauces on the menu. For our family of four, it was great fun to pick different sauces and sample each. The pesto was brilliant with the pine nut flavor mixing nicely with the basil. Sauces run the gamet, from tomato to cream to oil based, meat, chicken, seafood, veggie. Recommended.    [28 Jun 2005 18:51:35]

Il Radicchio has gone down the tube!
I've gone to Il Radicchio a number of times. The last couple of times I've gone there the bread has been stale. About a month ago I went there for dinner with a group of friends and we were given stale bread...we asked for fresher bread and our request was honored. Last evening a friend and I went there for dinner once again stale bread arrived at our table. When we requested fresh bread - first our waitress (who was very nice) told us that just how the restaurants bread was...that there was some sort of problems getting bread delivered on Sundays. The evening manager came to our table (he was incredibly rude) - his attitude was there is nothing wrong with this bread and if you don't like it you can order this other fancier bread and pay for it.

Some time passed and the manager of the restaurant came to our table who was even ruder that the night manager said that the restaurant's bread was awful and it wasn't going to get any better and if we didn't like it then it was just to bad. I replied that the restaurant used to have great bread. The manager said that they used to make their own bread but that the bread machine was broken and they weren't going to be fixing it because their lease expires in a year and they will be vacating the location. What seems to be happening is that bread is delivered to the restaurant at 7AM and is left outside. Since the staff doesn't show up to the restaurant until sometime in the afternoon the bread is left outside for hours on end exposed to both the air and whatever creatures are around. What a lovely image. I can't imagine an Italian restaurant that doesn't have reasonably good bread let alone any restaurant that would take take such little pride in what they served. If this is what they're doing with their bread I wonder what's happening to the rest of the food!    [14 Aug 2006 12:05:04]
