Excellent New Mexico Style Mexican food Our family has been dining at Anita's ever since she opened her first restaurant locally in the 1970s and did the cooking herself. The quality of the food and presentation has been remarkably stable over the intervening years, and it still remains a family favorite. We have dined at numerous Mexican style restaurants throughout the southwest and western USA during the last 50 years, and still find Anita's to be one of the best restaurants of this type we have ever experienced. There are several locations, but the one in the City of Fairfax remains our favorit [16 Jul 2001 00:45:02]

Great Place Went on a 1st date with my wife, and was very impressed. I am no longer in the area, but make it a point to stop at one of her locations whenever I can. [06 Mar 2003 20:36:31]

Just okay Anita's appears to be a fast-food restaurant from the outside, so we were surprised to be greeted by waiters and white tablecloths inside. The food was consistent with the fast-food appearance of the outside of the restaurant. It was okay--nothing to rave about--but fine for the East Coast. The prices were out of sync (too expensive) for the quality of the food. [18 Apr 2004 12:01:09]

The locations are not consistent Stopped in the Fairfax location On Feb 01, 2005. It was a "never go there again experience". The building was cold- we had to keep our coats on to be comfortable. The food was too spicy to be enjoyed. This location is very differnt from the Herndon location I frequent and consistently find delightful. [01 Feb 2005 15:45:10]

It's NOT MEXICAN FOOD ....... It's NEW MEXICAN and anyone who has ever eatten at Little Anita's in Albequerque (sp?) New Mexico will know the difference. That is where it all started till they moved to the Virginia area. It's all in the chili's and sauces. It may look like Mexican but trust me, it's not. All Anita's locations are about the same except for the one in Vienna which is larger. The breakfasts are fantastic, the salsa is a bit different too, more chunks. I've been eatting at their places for more than 30 years and still go back monthly for Sunday breakfast. What's great is they are open almost 24 hours so you can go anytime you get a craving. Food is Excellent but..... The food is absolutely delicious! however, the service is mediocre at best. The staff is all latino and no one in the Herndon location seems to speak english very well. This leads to wrong orders. Every single time I have ever gotten food at the Herndon location, my order comes out wrong, even I specifically say exactly what i want. Correcting the staff when the food comes out wrong does not do any good. All you will get in return is a blank stare, or they will argue with you. If you are going to eat here, order right off the menu and do not customize any dishes. [25 Apr 2006 16:11:51]
