Oh my!
If you want Maryland crabs in Virginia, this is the only place to go. The crabs are consistantly good and meaty. Splurge on the Jumbos - they are incredible. -It's a classic crabhouse with a staff that gets to know you ... Great place...    [09 May 2003 15:59:24]

Best crab house within a hundred miles
I've been going to Captain Pell's for over 20 years. Even though I live a hundred miles away now, the drive is still worth it for the best crabs around. Call in advance for the large sizes (Large and Jumbo). Over the years they have been harder and harder to get. Their standard size are like most others medium, and mediums are like most others large. Great place to get down and dirty with some succulent crabs. Very informal (as all crab houses should be) and well priced for the quality.    [10 May 2003 18:16:39]

BEST CRABS IN WASHINGTON AREA
I've been to Pell's several times and Loved it each time. Now that I live in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida working in Law Enforcement, I request all prisoner extraditions to the Washinton area so I can visit Pell's Crab House again. As a matter of fact, I'm returning Thursday 11/18/2004 to visit family with my 5 yr old son in tow and we are going straight to Pell's when we get off of the plane @ Dulles. YUMMMMM!!!!    [15 Nov 2004 20:43:10]

There's not a better crab place in the country!
My son and I have been going to Capt Pells
for over 20 years and believe me there isn't a place that can beat the way they prepare their crabs. When I lived in Oregon I would get my son to ship their crabs to me and I would have my little father's day treat.    [29 Mar 2005 17:03:43]

Terrific Crabs
My family has been eating at Capt. Pell's for years. Outside of the Eastern Shore of Maryland they are about the best crabs you'll find. My only complaint would be the guy who takes reservations: When special ordering jumbo crabs he wants to have them cooked and ready when you get there. The only problem is they are usually cold. And getting them to hold off on cooking them until you arrive at the restaurant is like pulling teeth. That aside, this is a terrific place. When you get there, don't forget to try the fried oysters; they are fantastic    [05 May 2005 17:33:25]

Best Crabhouse ever
I haven't been there for many years now that I live in South Carolina but practically lived there in the early eighties. Rick Pell and his brother Bill are great and they foster a friendly atmosphere. A bunch of us had a little club back then -we'd meet every Saturday for crab eating - then sometimes off to the Shenandoah for rafting; great times were had by all thanks to the Pells.    [03 Feb 2006 15:22:23]
