Excellent food - zero atmostphere
Anita's has a couple of locations. The one in Herndon is in an old house on a corner in the heart of "old" Herndon. Anita's isn't Mexican food, it's New Mexican food, meaning the cuisine of New Mexico. So there are a lot of subtle variations from the Tex-Mex standard. Everything is served with red or green sauce, and there are some unexpected ingredients, such as potatoes in tacos. The menu is huge. Try the breakfast burritos

The Worst Ever
I was so disappointed in my visit to Anita's for lunch. I was so excited before going and had heard rave reviews about the service and quality of the food. The disappointment started quickly and went down hill fast. The service started with a serving of salsa that would better be referred to as water. Not only was it served in a small plastic cup, but I could count the pieces of tomato and onion in it.

Then the real fun began. When the waitress began serving the meal she spilled the cheese and sauce from the plate of someone else all over my dress pants. Not only did she not react, she ignored the fact that she had just spilled food all over a customer. Eventually she decided to help me by bringing me some pre-packaged wet naps.

To add insult to injury, the manager watched the whole episode. Not only did I not receive an apology from the waitress or manager, they even charged me for my meal! The nerve! Ruined an expensive pair of dress pants and then charged me for the privilege!

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I have had better service and a lot better quality Mexican food at other Mexican restaurant in the Herndon area.    [25 Aug 2007 15:25:06]

Breakfast Burritos Can't Be Beat
That's the whole reason to go, plain (cheese, potato, egg and red chili sauce) or chorizo (plain + chorizo)breakfast burritos! They serve them when they open until 11:00 a.m. every day. And the takeout price is cheaper than sit down.

The breakfasts are why I like Anita's so much; I frequent the Chantilly and Herndon locations.    [19 Jun 2008 09:31:58]
