Absolutely the worst experience My husband and I were looking forward to a quiet evening in the beautiful town of Leesburg. A retreat we were in search of... then we stumbled upon this restaurant. Oh how I wish I had known what was in store for us... We looked at the menu outside (only to accidently bypass the HELP WANTED sign in the window= warning). We asked to be seated at the window for a view and were told that reservations for those tables were set... OK (only to later peek at the hostess book to learn of only one reservation for another larger table in the back= we were lied to). So we waited for a while being kind to the waitress, as it seemed she had too many tables. So we waited... no problem we were still happy. Then she came and took my drink order (my hubby had ordered his as we were seated) and I, also at this time, inquired about the dinner dishes. She was helpful, we ordered. Then we waited... we waited... we waited... WE WAITED! She came by apologizing that they were short staffed... that the chef just arrived, that the other table's order was large .... whatever. According to our calculations (and the kind gentleman from NY next to our table who noted he was served before us even though he arrived at least 25 minutes later), we waited an hour and 20 minutes (80 minutes)! We were standing up to leave as the waitress approached us with our meals. We debated taking the food, since we waited SO long. My husband, more forgiving than I, said we'll take the food. At this time, the waitress said she would have the owner talk to us. So as he deliver a beer to the neighbor's table, I asked him if I could talk to him (he did not approach us). I explained the situation and told him we never had experienced a wait like this before and if communications were in place to relay to us an idea of the delay, we would have cancelled the order, paid for the drinks and cut our losses on the dinner. WELL, the owner explain to us that he review our ticket and that he was unapologetic that it took so long (50 minutes to his calculations from the time the ticket went in to the time it arrived on out plates). I wish I had a stop watch. We could not believe the owner would not even acknowledge or even apologize for the unacceptable situation HIS establishment put us in. Actually my husband and I are rather well off and were not looking to save a buck. We just would have appreciated an apology. Good old fashioned apology. I would NEVER recommend this establishment to anyone. [13 Jun 2006 23:06:18]
