A So-So Red Sauce Joint Popular place with locals, but I can't figure out why. Mediocre food. [31 Jul 2003 17:40:37]

Consistently great experience in dinning. Have lived in DC area for erons and find Pulcincella to rank high; a wonderful restaurant. Management and staff are very friendly and accommodating, food is always good as is service. Always busy and an enjoyable experience. My doctor recommended their mountain trout; now a favorite. Nice But Flawed I've been dining in this restaurant for quite some time. The quality of the food and reasonable prices are what has brought me back. Especially the bolognese sauce, which I love on the meat ravioli. The pizza is truly excellent, and the tiramisu desert leaves me speechless. The service is generally gracious and responsive, occasionally indifferent.
On the negative side, the place is extremely cramped, and you feel like someone is about to slam their elbow into your head. Small tables jammed together. Also real noisy. And the cocktails, while delicious, are tiny.
The last time I ordered my pasta from this place the sauce was so loaded with oil that it was actually seeping out of the sauce. It must have been two thirds oil. I was gagging on it. I might give them one more chance, but this really disappointed me. [07 Apr 2007 21:42:32]
