Very disappointed with the management
I visited the Mechanicsville Shoney's on Sunday, Nov 14 around 4pm. My intentions were to order a grilled cheese and soup. On the menu there was an ultimate grilled cheese sandwich, with tomato and bacon for $5.49. The menu stated that ALL sandwiches were served with choice of fries, onion rings, baked potato, soup or salad. I ordered the sandwich without bacon or tomato and asked what soups they had, after hearing the 2 choices I said, " I really don't care for either of those, so I will take the salad" The waiter said, the salad bar? I said no, I don't want the salad bar, I want the salad that comes with the sandwich, he replied that is the salad bar as he pointed towards the bar. I questioned him once again, "the salad that comes with the sandwich is from the salad bar?" He said Yes, ma'am. When I rec'd my bill it was corrected. The first one charged me the $5.49 the other one charged me $5.49 plus $2.49 for the salad bar. I called the manager over to the table and explained to him I was overcharged, I told him the conversation I had with the waiter about the salad. He agreed that I was overcharged and said he would take care of it, then he spoke with the older woman working the register, she told him that I got the salad bar and some other comments I could not make out. When the manager brought me the corrected bill he started explaining that the house salad came with the sandwich and I had gotten the salad bar, I again told him that the waiter told me that the salad bar was what came with the sandwich when I tried to tell him he continuosly interrupted me and would never allow me to explain. He told me that he would remove the $2.49, to prevent hard feelings. His waiter made the mistake, not me. I would have even paid the extra $2.49, even though I should not have since I told the waiter I wanted the salad that came with the sandwich, if the mgr had of offered to bring me one of the side items that were included in the price of the sandwich. After he walked away, I still had 1/2 sandwich left,(I didn't eat it all because it was cold,and the cheese was not completely melted) I was going to take it home and cook it some more) no one ever came back over to our table. I ended up leaving the sandwich since I never got a box. When I went to pay my bill, the older woman was sitting down at a table, the mgr went to take my money and she came over to the register, before she could say anything, he told her he would fix something. He barely looked at me when he handed my change he did say, have a nice day, but it was while looking away. I was appalled at the way I was treated, they acted like I was some cheap skate trying to get something for free. All I wanted was what came with my meal    [16 Nov 2004 15:14:17]

Disappointing
I'd heard how "GOOD" the buffet was so i went in with my wife to try it. The food on the buffet looked overcooked and dried out. Some of the dishes had to be explained to me because i couldn't distinguish what they were. It was disappointing. I ate the salad and left everything else. Even the chicken was dry and tough. I shared my wife's fish with her. IF i ever go back, it will not be to get the buffet.    [03 May 2008 12:55:20]
