Seawell's New Chef a Pleasant Surprise We could not get reservations at The Trellis (Williamsburg) and instead decided to try Seawell's Ordinary, despite having heard horror stories about the food and service over many years past. The food was excellent, the service was excellent, and we enjoyed our anniversary dinner thoroughly. We did see customers without reservations turned away, though, for a lack of servers. Loved It The food was great although it did take time for it to be prepared. Really cozy atmosphere. If you are willing to relax with a cocktail, wait for your food, and enjoy the ambiance and history of the inn, you will really enjoy this. I would definitely return. [06 Dec 2004 18:58:37]

One Word: WONDERFUL!! I slipped up on Seawell's one night while traveling through Gloucester, VA. I stopped in to have a margarita, which was absolutely wonderful. I did not sample any of the dishes, but the menu piqued my interest. Needless to say, I will be returning. The service was delightful, with a hint of Southern charm. It was all one could want in a casual, relaxed restaurant. [30 Jun 2005 16:38:55]

BEST FOOD IN HAMPTON ROADS - SEAWELL'S The food is cooked to perfection everytime we have been. I took my parent's out to dinner last time they visited and loved everything from the starter salad, to the main course. Everyone needs to try this gem in Ordinary. [06 Oct 2005 21:14:54]

Beware the Outrageous Cocktail Prices Food and atmosphere fine. Restaurant virtually empty when we dined on a Saturday night. We wondered why, but when we got our bill, we figured it out! One Dewars on the rocks was $8.50! Either get a quote before ordering beverages or bring your drink and have it in the car. [12 Mar 2006 08:20:40]

Great Food / Great Atmosphere The only doubt we had about moving up to Gloucester was the parcity of a decent eatery. We stumbled upon Seawell's one evening and have fallen in love with it. The food and drinks are top shelf and the menu varies almost weekly. This is definitely a restaurant worth checking out if you are in the mood for a better prepared meal in a charming setting.
