Terrible experience
This restaurant does not belong at Reston Town Center.
Six of us went on a Wednesday night. The temp was 90+ outside and the restaurant must have forgotten to turn the a/c on. We complained three times to no avail.
The food was awful. The french fries were cold, rice pilaf was raw, mashed potatoes were dry, ribs came with no extra sauce. The dessert looked great on the tray brought to our table to tempt us, but when the cheesecake and chocolate cake were brought to the table, I think they took it straight out of the frige. Both desserts were hard, cold and sweating (also from the heat of the place).

The bar area is very nice as is the dining room. HOWEVER, the chefs need to be more proud of their work, not just slap it together & serve. But most important PLEASE turn on the a/c. Bartenders rude - orders mixed up.
Testing out the American Tap Room, I was shocked by my experience. I ordered a glass of wine and a house salad, that was listed as $4.95 in the Menu. When I got my bill it was $14.34. I asked the bartender why so much? and he told me that the Salad I saw in the menu was the garden salad and that he had ordered the house salad. I explained to him that I clearly pointed to the item I wanted in the menu and that I didn't feel as though I should be overcharged. He then called a fellow bartenter and thinking I could not hear him, referred to me as an a$$hole. I spoke with the manager, Tara and she said she would take care of it. One of top 5 all time worst service
Went at 5:30pm on a weekend with husband and three kids. Did not get drinks until 6pm. Never received refills on drinks although we asked. Ordered simple dishes which we did not received until 6:45pm. Begged for bill. Left at 7:30pm. What a horrible experience. Maybe if they asked if we wanted drinks, we would have been happy, but we had nothing. Terrible. Food was ok, but with so many choices, choose somewhere else.    [21 Sep 2003 19:59:12]

Appalling
I was appalled at the condescending service attitude, the lack of management concern and the disgusting food that this horrible restaurant provided. I was even more shocked at thhe obvious underage drinking and drug trafficking that I witness. Why the Commonwealth's ABC enforcement has not closed this dive down is beyond my comprehension.    [07 May 2004 11:57:56]

Big ripoff - don't go there if you're hungry
I just went to the Tap Room and ordered a spinach salad for $8.00. I received a plate with a handful of spinach leaves, a few tiny pieces of bacon (about a half a strip) and half a hard boiled egg. I left the restaurant starving. An incredible ripoff.    [19 May 2004 19:44:33]

American Tap Room sucks
I went there on my birthday with a few of my gal friends and my husband. NONE of us got served by the waitress until she saw my husband. The food was late, greasy and disgusting. Our beer took forever, it's not like they had to sew the hops. Then, we specifically separated the bar tab, and then my husband was charged over $135 for a $52 bar tab when he got his statement. Only go with a coupon
Tried this restaurant three times, twice for dinner and once for lunch. The service was fine, the food was overpriced. The steak was great the shrimp was terrible, the burgers were good However the buns were stale. The salad was lots of unwashed wilted looking lettuce with minimal amount of chicken. Don't go unless you have a coupon or in a hurry, rarely there is a wait for these reasons.    [23 Sep 2004 15:08:13]

Wow what a different experience.
`Went last night to celebrate my parents 33 wedding anniversary and everything was great. The food was especially excellent. The steaks were perfect and that the accompaniaments were right on. The place is expensive (for the meat and fish entrees - go with a coupon I agree). But what you get is great. The place was packed as it was the first night of the world series. One funny thing on a number of occasions we saw plates arriving at table that they clearly had not ordered... We even has an appatizer arrive un-requested... but in the end our service was good and the food was great. Hey even the low-card cheesecake passed muster. Bartenders are great
I have discovered that the Tap Room is a great bar to go to any night of the week. Even when they are busy the bartenders take the effort to get to know the patrons and the service is quick and efficient for the amount of buisness that they do. I have visited on a number of occassions and never recieved anything but top service. I have also many times ordered food at the bar and it is always fresh and fairly priced. I not only have celebrated my birthday there, but also taken many of my friends there for their birthdays and will continue to dine their as I recommend others to do also    [28 Oct 2004 21:57:44]

Dirty and couldn't even get service
We can't comment on the food, but we are completely turned off by our experience. We we seated in a very dirty area, food on the seats, and all over the floor in big chunks. The hostess acted as though this was normal and fine. In sitting for 20 minutes, we got our order in for coffee, but we left before the coffee arrived, as we were too grossed out to endure whatever was to follow.
