Good food, high energy restaurant Champs is a favorite restaurant. They have several large screen TVs, making it super-popular during big sporting events. It also has a DJ on nights and weekends, so it gets pretty loud. It's very popular, so during peak meal times, you will have to wait for a table. The food is always delicious. It is always fresh and hot, with very generous portions. They have a very large menu, of entrees, pasta dishes, sandwiches and large salads. Their French onion soup is superb. Read the menu description carefully if you have a sensitive stomach, as some of their dishes can get [31 Mar 2001 12:28:14]

Service seems to be a ongoig problem Ditto someone else's experience--we (2), dad and son, went in for a evening dinner- were seated immediately but with our backs to the TVs-- didn't think there was such a table in the place--only about half full also. There was an empty table right beside us with a full view of a large screen. So we decided to just ask to move when the waiter came...well after ten minutes and them busing tables all around us and watching about 7 of them chatting in the kitchen area, we decided to go back to the maitre d' and ask for service---afer getting blown off, and asking three times to see the manager, and saying I would go get him if they didn't, they finally got him. Well he did offer to serve us himself and pick up meal, it was a bit late ---never will return again. [22 Apr 2004 22:10:20]

nothing special This wannabe sports bar is only o.k. They have a decent selection of beer at fair prices. This place has the typical market-driven chain atmosphere of a T.G.I. Fridays or Bennigans with food to match. The place is definitely set up to handle large corporate lunches, but they are attentive to smaller groups. Lastly, if you're vegetarian I hope you like fries. This restaurant wants to put meat on everything, even the salads. They do not even have a veggie burger for you to enjoy. [23 Apr 2005 11:53:27]

Poor execution in the Kitchen When I was last there, I told them I would never be back. I haven't been. I had the worst Rueben I have ever eaten in my life.
Variations on a theme I can understand but when did a Rueben turn into a corned beef and cabbage sandwich? No dressing, no cheese. The prior time I ate there, the fries were stone cold. I was stupid/silly for allowing two strikes. [05 Aug 2006 10:13:10]

Bad management policies I called ahead of time, inquiring if the Cal-USC game I wanted to watch would be shown. The hostess told me, yes, it was on the schedule. Upon arrival, we told the hostess we were there to view Cal-USC was not on any of the screens and she seated us and showed us the screen where it was supposed to be showing. We quickly realized it was the wrong game and it was not being shown. We were reseated overlooking the waiting area in the restaurant far away but in view of the worst TV in the place. The picture was so poor, the yellow of the opposing team appeared orange and the screen was misty green -- virtually unwatchable. We switched tables 5 times because the screens kept switching. Finally, in the fourth quarter, on the final drive with 7 minutes left, they switched the game completely off to show boxing. Upon complaining to the manager Ronaldo Crespin and pointing out the game scheduled was not being shown, he refused to put it on another screen -- though there were two available in the bar showing two other football games. We pointed out the boxing is on every single screen save two, and we think he could spare one for a scheduled game. He said he paid $1,700 to show boxing and that is what he would show. The management is tacky, rude and are fostering bad customer relations. [12 Nov 2007 13:58:00]
