Sometimes Great Fat-Free, Low-Calorie Soft-Serve!
The regular scoop ice cream looks fine. I would not dare try the food due to the conditions - Staff is less than knowledgable about service and foodhandling. And, cleanliness is somewhat lacking. The fat- free, low-calorie soft-serve has caused me to return to Lee's many times. However, at times, I have been sorely disappointed by the taste and texture of the soft-serve. It seems that, as the manager (the owners' son) told me, the soft-serve is made from a mix they buy. And, Lee's, the manager said, does not follow the recipe provided with the mix. Lee's adds more mix and does not measure their proportions each time they make a new batch of soft-serve. Hence the unpredictable level of quality of the product. I have been to another Lee's in Tysons Corner Center, whose owner I know personally, they purchase the very same mix and follow the recipe provided exactly each time. Tysons soft-serve quality is excellent at all times, and they carry more flavors. Question to Reston's Lee's: If you add more mix and less water then the recipe says, then aren't all your 40 calories per 4 ounce serving made false by this practice?
