Memorable Dinner My wife and I had dinner at the Smithfield Inn on Friday, August 31, 2001 for our 33rd wedding anniversary. I do not remember where we had dinner on the 3rd, 13th or 23rd anniversary but I will remmeber the 33rd because the service was the worst I have ever experienced. We waited for almost 15 minutes before the hostess asked if we had been waited on. There were three service personnel and the dining area was not crowded--about 3 tables per waiter. The wait staff was entirely indifferent. Upon finishing the meal we were asked if we wanted dessert but coffee or after dinner drinks were not offered. In fact when we declined dessert the only comment was I'll get your check--the check was the only thing that arrived promptly. The soups were outstanding, my wifes entree (crab stuffed shrimp)was overcooked, my entree (tuna and salmon) was superb. This anniversary meal was remarkable in what it was not--what a shame [04 Sep 2001 11:18:02]

Birthday Dinner I recently was taken to the Inn for my birthday for dinner and could not of had a better dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed my stuffed shrimp. The atmosphere was quite pleasant and the decor was beautiful. I had outstanding service that ended with a tasty birthday cake from the Inn. I strongly recommend going to the Inn for anyone looking for something special. [23 Nov 2001 20:17:10]
