Gone to the dogs Used to be good, food still ok, but service is abominable. Last three times, poor service, and once on take out got home with half portions.
Success has ruined these people. Too bad as the location is good. [01 Dec 2001 21:10:58]

Hunger forced us to leave We've eaten here before, and the food was very good. Tonight, unfortunately, we didn't get to try it. We called a head, and were seated (on folding chairs) by 7:05, and we placed an order for appetizers at 7:10.
At 7:55 we left. Our server never returned, and we were hungry and out of patience.
On the plus side, the bartender was very friendly, and while she had never heard of a Nutty Irishman (Bailey's and Frangelico) she was happy to make one once my wife explained it.7 [30 Dec 2001 23:18:08]

Usually very good I've never had any poor experiences at Chengs. The service has always been good, and the food has always been great. Sometimes during the Summer it gets very warm, as if they don't run the air conditioner enough - but the food is always perfect, and so is the service. [19 Apr 2002 17:44:01]

Love the food, the little sterno's are a nice touch too. Both times my girlfriend and I went to Chengs the food was great and the service impecable. I also called ahead and had reservations. We got a nice booth. My water was always filled and the appetizers came out in a timely manner and the dinner didn't come out too soon. They gave us enough time to finish our appetizers before bringing out main course. I do have to say that I had to take off my outer shirt because it was extremely hot in there. I believe their A/C was broken. [29 Jul 2002 08:37:40]

Chengs Is the best Chinese restaurant in Northern Virginia The food here is amazing. I have been eating at Chengs since I was 7 and now I am 17 years old. ALthough I still think it is great, it has fallen behind the standard it set in previous years. Before the service was impeccable, and you would never have seen the complaints above. We used to eat at Chengs at least once every week, and the staff knew us by name. Unfortunately our favorite staff members seemed to have moved to pacific rim. Since we moved out of sterling (we now live in herndon) we rarely go there anymore (a couple times a year), but I have yet to have eaten better Chinese food in Virginia. Chengs is a No. VA leg [10 May 2003 17:24:28]

It's OK Now Been going to Cheng's for many years. Was very very good, then unexpectedly the service started to suck, so we went carry out; then that started to suck; Several years later tried once again...it's still very good food; service 50/50. I think it just depends on who's managing. Maybe Louis' relatives quit? Yeah; I've done the lacko A/C thing too with them. [31 Dec 2003 19:33:52]
