The best of Winchester My only fear of writing a review is that even more diners will love Violino as much as we do!
Chefs Franco Stocci (who seranades diners) and son Ricardo, with mother Marcella welcoming diners, have created a restaurant in this small town that even attracts the Academia Italiana de la Cucina from distant Wash. D.C. for its meetings.
The food is supurb, well presented and imaginative; the waitstaff expert in service, food knowledge and wine; the ambience is delightful, from the decor to the strolling violinist on weekend nights.
It's small and intimate, and not inexpensive, but it fills up quickly. Repeat customers are greeted with hugs! In my opinion it's a Winchester treasure. I can't say enough good things about it. [15 Jul 2002 12:38:01]

Come for the food, stay for the opera This gem in the unlikely town of Winchester, VA, is definitely one of America's best. My wife and I make a yearly trip from northern Virginia, and usually stay overnight in the area. It's worth it! Last year we were there on a Saturday night, and as dessert was served the chef-owner treated us to an aria from "Il barbiere di Siviglia" accompanied by an instrumental cd. It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all. We also enjoy looking at all the musical instruments on the walls, and listening to the very talented strolling violinist. [19 Sep 2006 13:04:03]

Outstanding... I have dined at this restaurant at least 4 times in the past 2 years. Each and every time I am impressed with the excellent service, presentation, menu, and of course - the food.
The wait staff is excellent and very attentive to your needs. The chef on occasion will come out and sing a course of the "barber of sevile" ... and does it with gusto. (not the best opera singer but he tries hard!). [11 Dec 2006 19:09:36]

E' Davvero Italiano! We repatriated to the US from 10 years living in Milan.
Il Violino has been the ONLY restaurant in Virginia (including NOVA/DC) to allay our homesickness for Il Bell'Paese.
Franco and Marcella have successfully replicated Northern Italian cuisine to a "T", not an easy task, given that the same ingredients are nearly impossible to find.....but they've done it. [07 Dec 2007 15:12:17]
