Don't Eat Here If You Like Hockey
Smashed Tomatoes discriminates who they will serve. The manager was hostessing and asked us if we had an event we were going to after dinner. We said, yes, we are going to a hockey game (which was starting in over an hour, and was very close by). She responded "We won't serve 'hockey people'." I have been to this restaurant several times before. This restaurant knows nothing about customer service, and they obviously don't want to make a profit if they're turning people away for ridiculous reasons. Don't eat at Smashed Tomatoes! Tell your friends.    []

Speaking of
Let me first say that my husband and I eat out quite frequently and very rarely have had awful dining experiences. We are always very appreciative of the hard work of the wait staff, cooks etc. In other words, it doesn't take a whole lot to make us happy diners. Having said that, our first experience (and last) at "Smashed Tomatoes" in Everett was quite unpleasant. I won't go into all the details, but things went poorly from the very first unfriendly greeting of the hostess through the rest of the meal. When I expressed my dissatisfaction to the manager, he actually started getting defensive and making up all sorts of excuses and took absolutely no responsibility.

On the very few occasions we've had bad restaurant experiences, we actually never even had to ask for a manger, the server was empowered to comp a meal, give a free dessert of offer a coupon...just something to show they were sorry we had a bad experience but cared about our business. This "manager" did no such thing. In fact it ended with him walking away laughing after I told him we would not be returning. Just a warning to people thinking about trying this restaurant, you may have good experience, but if you don't, the management does not care at all!    [31 Oct 2004 01:34:47]

Good Italian Food
Quaint Italian restaurant with a large menu, brightly painted walls, and great wine selection. Service and food were great.    [29 Mar 2005 11:34:52]

A Good Experience
We have eaten at Smashed Tomatoes in Everett and Stanwood. Both times the food was very good and very pleasant staff. No complaints and would return for a casual meal out.    [28 Jul 2005 15:04:24]

A Favorite Spot
My husband and I love it here. The food is great and garlicky. The service is divine. We usually come in late, just before close and we are treated very well.

This is a quiet, out of the way place, and we love the privacy.    [13 Jun 2006 11:47:10]
