Lori Rocks I went into the Golden Steer on Sunday December 9, 2001 and was waited on by Lori. She was fantastic. So friendly and helpful! She made the trip worthwhile. Next time I am in Kent I am going back and asking for Lori! THe food was okay, but Lori made up for any thing that was wrong! [14 Dec 2001 14:35:08]

Hello all you wonderful happy waitresses Wow, are the waitresses happy at golden steer or what? They really enjoy serving the elite of Kent's east hill dignataries! Great freshly brewed coffee in the morning, old bagged fruit, or god know's what the special might be, these waitresses carry the food out and drop it on the table with a smile! Gone are the day's when Margaret would chide the client's.....for example, if she had the coffee and was about to pour....but you had enough....if you said "I'm fine", she would say....."What makes you think so". Oh, the tenderness of that woman. Still, the waitresses remaining are top quality people who will share their happiness and beautiful attitude with you [07 Jul 2002 23:52:06]

The worst dinner I've ever had My girlfriend and I decided to go to dinner at the Golden steer on 10/18/05. We each ordered sirloin steaks. It took forever to receive the food, and on top of that it tasted like it came from tin can. Even though the food was complete crap, they still made us pay for the salad bar which costed $16.00 for two people, the salad bar is located in the back next to the restrooms, how disgusting is that? I will never go to the Golden Steer again and I advise you never to go to the Golden Steer. [19 Oct 2005 01:46:04]

Good service, but food quality not. Decided to try the Golden Steer on a Saturday night. Wasn't too crowded, probably should've tipped me off right there. Was against my wife's wishes ... but we looked at the menu outside and it appeared to be okay, so we proceeded inside.
Seated right away ... service was excellent, very attentive. We ordered their pasta alfredo and prime rib, thinking those would be pretty safe picks.
The pasta alfredo reminded me of the "Lipton" variety that you buy out of a supermarket. The noodles were short and sauce was nearly soup-like. The prime rib was also like the variety that "Hormel" has out in the supermarket. Very low quality and came way overcooked. (Ordered medium rare and turned up medium well.)
Hard to believe the most enjoyable part of the dinner was the iced tea I ordered.
Must say that the salad bar being located right next to the restrooms as mentioned by other reviewers is pretty bad too.
Very expensive meal in my book to say that only the iced tea was the only thing enjoyable about it. ($47 after 17.5% tip.) [26 Mar 2006 11:53:53]
