I have been dining at this restaurant for a number of years and celebrate most special occasions at The Alley Cafe and I am pleased to say I am never disappointed or let down, I am always glad we didn't pick somewhere new. The food is great and the service very friendly and real fun. They have a wonderful wine list and the staff is knowledgeable on what wine go's with what entre. I would (and do) recommend The Alley Cafe to Friends, relative and tourist. [11 Nov 2003 19:37:17]

intimate dining experience The main dining room is comfortable for parties of 2 to 4. Another dining room is off to the left for larger parties. My husband and I enjoy coming here on a "date night". Nice to have some space for those of us wanting a quiet, romantic dinner. That's one of my favorite things about this restaurant. Not to mention the food. Best lasagna in town. Excellent wine list. Enjoyable with friends or alone The Alley Cafe is a great place to unwind and dine with friends, with someone special, or even alone. I've eaten there many times and always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Service is prompt and friendly, and the wines always compliment your dinner choice. Servings are large and filling. It Sounded Good, But... Well, I took the recommendation from the glowing reviews here, but now think they must have been submitted by the restaurant itself! I was not overly impressed. Nice wine selection, mediocre food, indifferent service, average food at best, and I think most of the meal was purchased ready-to-serve. It was not bad, definitely better than Denny's, but not anything near what I had been led to expect - overall a disappointing experience. [28 Aug 2004 02:50:09]

A delightful dinner! My husband and I ate here with my brother. The food was very tasty, the waitress so attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was quiet and warm. We had a wonderful time eating and visiting. We never felt rushed as you do in so many restaurants even though the tables were full. The live jazz music coming in from the other room added to the ambiance. It is a lovely memory for me. I will be back again when I am in town. I am also telling all my friends about it. One of the best meals I've had in years! We walked in to this beautiful, warmly decorated place full of interesting and eclectic decor. The woman who was our server was very welcoming and very understanding about our 3-year-old granddaughter.
I had the Jerusalem chicken and it was literally a symphony of flavors--and all harmonious. My husband had the King salmon and my sampling of it was that it was superb--cooked all the way through, yet never dry. My son-in-law had the manicotti and my daughter the spanikopita and it was truly wonderful. My granddaughter, the somewhat picky eater, cleaned her plate of all we had shared with her (we've learned it's better to do that--she doesn't eat enough to buy her her own meal) and then went on to prey on her granddad's garlic mashed potatoes.
Any suggestions? The chairs were kind of uncomfortable, although I appreciate that they didn't have arms (me being a round human and all) and it was VERY warm in there, but that doesn't reduce it a single star... [15 Oct 2006 12:58:58]

Excellent food and very good service. Nicely decorated. Great wine selection. The male owner, however, was not very welcoming. My only complaint is that he should appear at least somewhat happy that you are visiting his restaurant. Otherwise, great place to eat-but be sure to make a reservation. [20 Jan 2007 13:32:14]

Truly This is a truly wonderful place to dine. Steve (owner) and his staff will always make you feel like you are part of the family. An elegant Italian atmosphere tucked away in the foothills of Washington’s Bavaria. The food is a wonderful trip through the rich flavors of Italy; add to this an array of wine spanning the world, with the Northwest’s finest. Here you have found a truly “Magnifique” restaurant in The Alley of downtown Leavenworth! [07 Feb 2007 18:09:48]

Wonderful place The Alley Café stands alone in the world. The food is creatively prepared and the sways from tradition, such as perfectly ripe tomatoes on a Caesar salad, are done with thought and only add to the already excellent composition. We had the spaghetti and meatballs and the cannelloni, both excellent with the subtle touches of a true foodie, after the salad along with a nice bottle of Chianti and were thoroughly pleased by the portion size and presentation.
Make reservations, this is a small restaurant and it fills up fast. The décor is fun and baroque, the wait staff are polite and generous, all and all we could not have had a better dinner. We will definitely go back because they have pasta puttanesca on the menu and that is the true sign of a real Italian place. I also have to say something about the music. We were just amazed at the talent of the three men, who played string instruments for us, during our dinner. [25 Jun 2007 11:54:49]

My Favorite I love this resturant. The only thing I don't like is that it is not open for lunch. Don't be put off that it is in an alley, some of the greatest treasures are often hidden!! [16 May 2008 16:18:14]
