World class cusine We have eaten here for years, particularly after visiting Antiem. The food is always exceptional with special German dishes. The service is in the European tradition, and nothing is better then sitting in front of the fire looking out at the Potomic River. [25 Jan 2005 10:36:57]

Quality Has Slipped Considerably Since longtime owner and manager Irwin Asam turned over the management of the restaurant to his son Christian, the quality of the food has deteriorated badly. What was once an elegant, European experience is now nothing special at all. In his zeal to apply what he learned at the Cornell School of Hospitality, Christian appears to want to cut costs more than anything. Now, one can get hamburgers and French fries. The game menu, though advertised on their web site, appears to be unavailable now. The once lengthy menu is now shortened so as to offer a minimal list of favorites but little else. The desserts are an unmitigated disaster. The once great black forest cake is now nothing more than a stale brownie with Crisco icing and a dab of cherry goo. [20 Feb 2006 21:32:12]
