Best Food I had Since I Left NJ On out way to Devils Tower WY we happened to stop in the town of Hulett, WY just about dinner time. We asked some folks in town where to eat and a local recommended "The Ponderosa Cafe". The place seemed busy and after our meal i can for sure tell you why. Decorated with old cowboy photos, memorabilia and local western artwork by Bob Coronato. The place is almost a museum to the area.
As we waited for the meal to arrive I even wandered into the bar area where there is more western artwork, old guns, mounts and native American art. Very Classy! My wife and I tried something from the special board, while my son had a hamburger. We were told there were new owners and that the chef came from NY. To my amazement when the food arrived the chef had to be the best NY chef ever... it was the best meal we had on our cross country trip, very flavorful and nothing was "deep fat fried"--a first since we left the East.
The portions were a value and presentation was nice. I had the Ribeye steak in madiera sauce and my wife had the ravioli pasta dish. Awesome! We definitely recommend to stop and try it if not for the food but for the western atmosphere. [27 Aug 2006 09:51:11]

Great Food, Jewel in Small town in Wyoming We stopped in on our way back from devils tower in this small town of 400. A local recommended we try the Ponderosa Cafe and Bar as the food was the best around. Our experience with a referral up to this point in our trip lead to the low level of expectation.
We were pleasantly surprised as we had great service and the food was the best we had on our entire vacation even compared to other large cities in black hills. the atmosphere was tasteful as the walls were covered with art and artifacts from local history. [29 Oct 2007 21:18:03]
